In Memoriam Steve Nizick ‘06
The MSU Rowing community lost Steven R. Nizick on March 9, 2011. “Steve-O” was an integral member of the team for three years, and was a part of the Men’s Four that advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in 2006 (with Matt Weaver, Simon Grout, William Pregliasco, and coxswain Laura Graham). He rowed competitively in the Four and Pair events, and lived with current coach, Matt Weaver, during his time in Murray.
Steve earned his degree in business and was the Assistant Manager of Sherwin-Williams in Franklin, TN. He remained involved with Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed sailing in his spare time. Steve was a wonderful teammate and alum of MSU Rowing. He always looked forward to returning to MSU for the Homecoming Cup and gave generously to the team. In keeping with Steve’s generosity, his parents have pledged an annual donation in his name which will go for a scholarship to a deserving student-athlete on the team. Steve’s memory and legacy to MSU Rowing was realized at the 2011 Homecoming Banquet with a boat named in his honor.
